Abstract: Background: Thyroid disorders are among the most prevalent endocrine conditions worldwide and are known to affect ocular surface homeostasis. Despite their common occurrence, the relationship between thyroid dysfunction and dry eye syndrome (DES) is insufficiently characterized in the Indian subcontinent. Objective: To determine the prevalence of dry eye syndrome in patients with hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism, and to compare findings with age-matched normal controls.
