Abstract: The profound impact of artificial intelligence on education is undeniable. Beyond its positive contributions, however, AI introduces numerous challenges to the education sector. To understand the latest developments in AI research, particularly concerning the challenges it presents for education, a review was conducted on 477 relevant works published between 2015 and 2025. The results demonstrate a widespread international interest in AI research in education, with studies consistently identifying various challenges for teachers and learners when AI is introduced into educational settings.
