Abstract: Alcohol addiction is widely recognized as a major social and public health concern with far-reaching consequences beyond individual health. The present study examines the social problems associated with alcohol addiction in the state of Kerala by comparing the experiences of alcohol addicts and non-addicts. The study is based on primary survey data collected from 210 addicts of Alcoholic Anonymous groups, and same number of non-alcoholics of similar socio-economic backgrounds.
