Title | : | Impact of moderate drought and shading on morphological traits of Quercus suber L. and Quercus canariensis Willd seedlings |
Country | : | Spain |
Authors | : | Taher Mechergui || Marta Pardos |
ABSTRACT: The main objective of this study was to investigate the effect of shading and water availability on tree seedling growth of cork oak (Quercus suber L.) and zeen oak (Quercus canariensis Willd). To reach this objective, two light intensities (moderate (L+) versus low (L-) intensity) and two water regimes (well-watered (W+) versus moderate drought (W-)) were applied. Cork oak seedlings growing under well-watered conditions were able to increase their height in response to low light intensity, while those growing under water deficit were not. By contrast, zeen oak's response to light was independent of water regime with greater height under..........

ABSTRACT: Crop residues are renewable sources of energy for ruminants. Pre-digestion of such materials with ligninases from white rot fungi may transform the lignocellulosic substrate into a feed with greater digestibility and higher quality for ruminants. This study has evaluated the effect of crude (T1) and purified(T2) lignin peroxidase (LiP) obtained from immobilized white rot fungi (LPS1) on chemical composition and in vitro digestibility of nine cereal crop residues commonly used for feeding ruminants. Untreated straw served as control(C). Each straw was hand chaffed into 2.3 to 3.0 cm bit length and treated with the enzyme by spraying at a ratio of 1:2.5 and left for 24 h before analysis.........

Authors | : | Sumaiya Afrin || Fowzia Sultana || S. D. Chowdhury || Bibek Chandra Roy |
ABSTRACT: The responses of broilers to organic chromium (Cr) fed under heat stress were investigated. About 256 day old Cobb 500 broilers were divided into four dietary groups and fed iso-caloric and iso-nitrogenous diets containing 0, 0.005, 0.010 and 0.015% organic Cr (yeast fermented) up to 35 days. Feed intake, body weight gain and feed conversion ratio (FCR) were measured. Blood samples were collected at 22 and 34 days of age to determine serum parameters. On 35 days, 2 broilers from each replicate were slaughtered to determine carcass traits. Body weight and weight gain of broilers fed Cr were significantly increased at 21 and 35 days (P<0.01). Feed intake was not affected up to 21 days but increased in Cr groups (P<0.05) from 22 to 35 days. The lowest FCR was recorded for 0.010% Cr (P<0.01)...........

ABSTRACT: Mites are living organisms having cosmopolitan distribution and have free to parasitic mode of life. They are microscopic and belong to the largest Arthropods. According to their habit and habitat they are of different types like plant mites, gall mites, animal mites, poultry mites etc. They dwell in dust accumulating in carpets, bedding, fabrics, furniture and poultry.They are negatively phototactic.Mites are allergens too causing allergies, eczema, asthma, rhinitia, bronchitis etc to human and animals. Humidity and temperature are the most important factors that regulate the dust mite population............
