Abstract: Background: The transgender community in India holds a long, complicated history, one that is influenced by colonialism, legal v/s social fights for dignity, and cultural significance. This community that was once accepted and revered in the traditional Indian systems, were criminalised after colonization – the impacts of which are experienced till date by this community.
