Abstract: Port Harcourt and its environs is the hub of oil and gas activities in Niger Delta of Nigeria. It has been reported in several studies on associated adverse impact of particulate matters and noxious gases on man and environment as receptors as a result of the above noted sources of air pollution.The complaints by the residents of the study area of over alarming air pollution of Port Harcourt and its environs in recent time necessitated the rationale for this research.Air quality impacts on the environment can therefore be quantified by simulating environmental conditions. The effective and efficient way to understand the interactions of various air pollution scenarios as relate with meteorology, topography and existing air quality characteristics are air pollution models. Linear regressions and multiple linear regressionsmodels were developed to forecast the influence of meteorological parameters on air pollutants in the wet season. Abstract: White Sorghum bicolor and Pennisetum glaucum were analyzed using standard analytical techniques for vitamin composition before and after sprouting. The data showed that the vitamin content was increased after sprouting. For white Sorghum bicolor and Pennisetum glaucum, among the water soluble vitamins, the highest percentage enhancement was observed in B9 (-39.4% and -21.0%) respectively while among the fat soluble vitamin group, the highest level of enhancement was observed in vitamin K (-10.1%) and A (-19.4%) both for Sorghum bicolor and Pennisetum glaucum respectively. However from the present study, it was concluded that Sorghum bicolor and Pennisetum glaucum contains appreciable amount of various water and fat soluble vitamins of which sprouting significantly increased their percentage composition. Comparatively, both water and fat soluble vitamins in Pennisetum glaucum are highly or more enhanced than that of white Sorghum bicolor after sprouting. Although the level recorded in all the samples in the present research could not meet up with the recommended daily allowance but could serve complementary role in nutrition..

Abstract: Land use practices need to be regulated and managed else they cause harm and cost to the rivers. Abstract: The Turag is a very important river of Dhaka city, specially to its northern inhabitants. While other rivers around Dhaka have received considerable attention, there have not been any recent, reliable studies on the water quality of Turag using standard methods. This study looks at some water quality parameters in the Turag and classifies sections of the river under a water quality index (WQI). Water quality index provides a single number to express overall water quality of a certain location based on selected water quality parameters. The parameters used to calculate WQI in this study are pH, conductivity (μS), temperature (°C), dissolved oxygen (mg/L) and total dissolved solids(mg/L). Present study shows that Turag has higher WQI in the northern part, with the highest WQI value of 84.04 obtained at Rupnagar Pump House. Comparatively the southern sections of the river have lower WQI values with the lowest WQI value of 40.17 at PalparaGhat location.

Abstract: The use of plant-derived foods (cereals) in the prevention, treatment and management of metabolic diseases especially diabetes has gained prominence; this has been associated with their physicochemical properties. This study was conducted to compare the antinutrient composition of the white Sorghum bicolor and Pennisetum glaucum (sprouted and unsprouted).
