Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Hina Gupta || Tenzin Yangdon || Ujjwal Gupta || Tirvesh Kumari |
Abstract: Background : Functional reach is a predictor of dynamic balance and is assumed to determine risk of injuries and improvement in fitness level. Y balance test is a modified version of star excursion balance test (SEBT) and is designed to assess dynamic stability. The aim of this study is to give normative data about dynamic stability of lower extrimeties in cricketers between 16 – 25 years of age..........

Title | : | The Effect of Repetitive Wrist Load in Athletes on Median Nerve Neurophysiological Evaluation |
Country | : | Iraq |
Authors | : | Zeyad Tareq Abdulrazzaq || Zaid Al-Madfai |
Abstract: Background: Fine wrist repetitive movements or aggressive weight lifting movements may cause abnormal nerve conduction parameters. Some sports are characterized by non-traumatic disorders of the soft tissues of the musculoskeletal system that include activities such as repetitive forceful motions, and awkward postures loads; of these, athletes specialized with Tennis table or Wrestling were the target of this study. Abnormalities of median nerve conduction study include wide variety of findings including carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) which is the most common peripheral neuropathy in sport medicine.........

Title | : | On The Relationship Between Perceived Competence, Physical Performance And Motivation of 13 - 15-Year-Old Students: A Bootstrapping Method Analysis |
Country | : | Tunisia |
Authors | : | Nader Zghidi |
Abstract: This article aims to (i) analyze the relationship between academic performance, motivation and the feeling of competence; (ii) check whether the perception of school capacity of different student types was different and; check if boys and girls are distinguished at this level. To tackles this issue, we used a data for 95 Tunisian students analyzed through the principal component analysis (PCA) and a Bootstrapping methods. We find that, from the seventh year of basic education, there is a relationship of self-concept between school performance in physical education and motivation. In addition, they also indicated that boys positively perceive their skills in physical education whereas girls are rather satisfied with academic achievement.

Title | : | The Effect of Training and Sport Type on Pulmonary Function Parameters among Iraqi Soccer and Futsal Players |
Country | : | |
Authors | : | Zeyad Tareq Abdul Razzaq || Zaid Al-Madfai || Ghassan Thabet Saeed |
Abstract: The characters of sport and the training and regular exercises, make athletes tend to have an increase in pulmonary capacity to compensate the forceful respiratory movements and large air volumes used. Intensity and severity of sports performed by the athletes usually determines the extent of strengthening of the inspiratory muscles and may be the alveolar size with a resultant increase in the pulmonary functions. Aim of the study: this study has been carried out to establish a relationship between the character of sports and pulmonary functions in Iraqi athletes............

Abstract: Background: Neuroticism is a long-term tendency to be in a negative emotional state. People with neuroticism tend to have more depressed moods - they suffer from feelings of guilt, envy, anger and anxiety, more frequently and more severely than other individuals. Neuroticism is the state of being neurotic. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to compare the neuroticism behaviour between sportsmen and non-sportsmen. Setting and Design: The subjects taken for this study were 100 male students(50 sportsmen & 50 non-sportsmen) from various colleges of Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University, age ranging from 20-26 years. Questionnaire was used as a tool for this survey............

Authors | : | Sharma Archna || Gupta Sumit |
Abstract: The purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of 6 weeks single leg and double leg free weights resistance training on vertical jump and isometric strength (peak force of quadriceps & hamstring muscles) in male collegiate basketball players. Nineteen healthy male basketball players participated in the study. The subjects were divided into 2 groups and randomly assigned either to a single leg group (Group I; n = 9) or a double leg group (Group II; n = 10) and underwent a 6 weeks training protocol. Both groups were trained 2 days per week for 6 weeks with free weights i.e. the resistance training protocol, with same training volume and intensities for both the groups..............

Abstract: In sport, the transmission of messages between the coach and the player is paramount. Very few studies focus on the communications process between the coach and the player, and very few analyses the impact of this communication on athletes. This research seek to capture what is good coach-athlete communication in the eyes of coaches and players, to understand the communication process itself and to understand the impact of communication on the athletic and personnel development of players

Title | : | Integrity Issues in Competitive Sports |
Country | : | Nigeria |
Authors | : | Lawal Yazid Ibrahim Ph.D |
Abstract: Integrity in sports have over the past decade been a topical issue in sport literature and integrity scholars these is predominantly as a result of increased media and public attention to sports players, institutions, leagues, organizations and stakeholders in both on-field play and off-field player behavior contexts. In the past few years, these have included issues related to: match fixing, corruption and doping. It has been described by many, including high profile sporting figures, sport administrators and governing bodies, as a greater threat to the integrity of sport than doping. This threat is match-fixing. One of the most powerful guardians of sport, Jacques Rogge, the president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), explains why, "Doping affects one individual athlete, but the impact of match-fixing affects the whole competition. It is much bigger." Illegal gambling is the principal driver of what Rogge has also called a "cancer"..........

Abstract: We study plane motion of fluttery falling plastic pieces as a students' research activity in high school.We perform experiments and record its motion by using digital video camera. While its motion seems to be quite random due to air resistance, from 573 data of both turning angle and step of plastic pieces, we find that it can be well described by weighted random walk, in which turning angle and step are chosen at every step as random walk with definite weight..........

Abstract: The main objective of this study was to examine the differences of sport anxiety among university student athletes in the Republic of Yemen based on demographic variables. The sample consisted of 397 student athletes (278 males and 119 females). Sport Anxiety Scale SAS was used to evaluate sport anxiety. The result by analysis by independent t-test revealed that there was a slight difference between male and female student athletes. In terms of worry (t (271.65) = .987, ρ >.05, η2 = 0.002), the mean for males was M =2.26, S.D = 0.65 while the mean for females was M =2.20, S.D = 0.52. For concentration disruption..........
