Objective: To assess and summarize the effectiveness of interventions focussing on physical activity and nutrition together through the school-based health promotion programmes. Search method: The search strategy included search in databases such as pubmed, medline, reference lists of included articles, systematic reviews and background papers to identify relevant studies and references. Title | : | Sport Team Culture of Malaysian College Athletes |
Country | : | Malaysia |
Authors | : | Wee Eng Hoe |
Abstract: This study examined sport team culture among athletes in the Malaysian Public Universities. Team Culture Inventory was adopted from Kao & Cheng (2005). A total of 316 student athletes were surveyed using convenience sampling method. Research findings revealed that there were more males student athletes (60.8%) than female athletes (39.2%). Majority (73%) of the athletes was involved in team sport and 57% of them were in the university and state teams. Only 14.5% of the athletes hold leadership positions including captain and assistant captain. The ranking of team culture sub-domains showed that 'togetherness within other team member' sub-domain was ranked first, 'compliance to coaching' second, 'competitive desire' third and 'perseverance' forth for the respondents of the whole sample, males and females respondents. Inferential statistics found that there were no significant differences in team culture among athletes according to gender, age groups, category of sports and level of involvement. However, one-way ANOVA results revealed significant difference in the 'together within other team member' sub-domain (F[3,312] = 4.044, p<0.05). Team captains have a more positive team culture as compared to athletes holding other team posts. The findings have significant implications for coaches and sport program directors.

Authors | : | Dr. ManishaMondal || Arup Gayen |
Abstract: Sociology is the study of society. It is a social science – a term with which it is sometimes synonymous – which uses various methods of empirical investigation and critical analysis to develop and refine a body of knowledge about human social activity, often with the goal of applying such knowledge to the pursuit of social welfare. Subject matter ranges from the micro level of agency and interaction to the macro level of systems and social structures. Sociology is both topically and methodologically a very broad discipline. Its traditional focuses have included social stratification, social class, social mobility, religion, secularization, law and deviance. As all spheres of human activity are sculpted by social structure and individual agency, sociology has gradually expanded its focus to further subjects, such as health, military and penal institutions, the interest, and even the role of social activity in the development of scientific knowledge. Although Sports sociology is a sub discipline of exercise science

Authors | : | Prosenjit Paul || Dr. Kallol Chatterjee || Biswabandhu Nayek |
Abstract: The purpose of the study was to find out the effects of yogic practice and dynamic stretching exercises on muscular flexibility of the school children. To run the human machine smoothly it depends upon one of the most fitness component that is Flexibility. Flexibility is the range of motion through which the limbs are able to move. Dynamic stretching, as the name implies involves movement and muscular effort for the stretch to occur. For the purpose of this study 60 Children age ranged between 10to 14 years were selected randomly from SAPTAGRAM ADARSHA HIGH SCHOOL, NORTH 24 PARGANAS To compare the Back and Hamstring muscle flexibility between the Dynamic Stretching and Yogic Practices groups Sit and Reach Test was induced to the subjects. After initially tested on flexibility all the subjects were divided in to two equal groups. One group was given 6 weeks of dynamic stretching training and the other group was received 6 weeks of yoga exercises. After 6 weeks both the groups were again tested on same the variable. Analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was used to calculate the collected data at 0.05 level of Significance. Significant difference was found in Sit and Reach Test in case of flexibility of both the groups after 6 weeks of treatment. Yogasana was slightly better than the dynamic stretching exercise for the school going children.
