Abstract: The palisade ratio is calculated for 117 taxa of tropical Acanthaceae. The mean palisade ratio values range from 1.45 to 25.0, the lowest and highest being observed in Pseuderanthemum reticulatum and Strobilanthes barbatus respectively. Palisade ratio is a reliable taxonomic character, which is constant for a taxon and it will not vary with environment. However it is more useful in delimiting the taxa at tribal and intraspecific levels than at generic and specific levels. As the same category of palisade ratio is reported in many unrelated tribes of the family, it can be used with other conservative characters in a holistic way. This criterion has reliable taxonomic and pharmacognostic applications since it goes in harmony with other conservative characters.

Abstract: Bubulcus ibis has worldwide distribution and in India it is common in variety of habitats. These birds selected such nesting sites which provided protection, stability, material to support and construct the nests as well as had feeding areas within foraging range. The nests were shallow platforms and 75 per cent of nests observed, were recorded in Acacia nilotica. Cattle egrets were opportunistic feeders and typically foraged in flocks often associated with grazing animals to pick off the disturbed insects and parasites of large herbivores. Due to anthropogenic activities and changing ecological conditions, these are being forced away from their natural habitats and habits. Abstract: This study evaluated the gastroprotective and hepatoprotective effects of ethanolic leaf extract of Irvingia gabonensis on aspirin-induced ulcer in albino rats. The animals were grouped into 5 groups of 5 rats each with Group 1 (Control), Gp 2 (Aspirin alone ASA 400mg/kg), Gp 3 (Omeprazole 20mg/kg + ASA 400mg/kg), Gp 4 (200mg/kg Extract + ASA 400mg/kg( and Gp 5 (400mg/kg Extract + ASA 400mg/kg). The result of the study showed a significant decrease (p≤0.05) in ulcer score, ulcer index, volume of gastric content, total acidity and pepsin activity. There was an increase observed in ulcer percentage inhibition in wistar rats pretreated with 20 mg/kg omeprazole, 200 mg/kg and 400............

Abstract: The soil is considered as the region of earth crest was geology and biology meat. There are two category of soil namely mineral soil which contains solid matter in the region and organic solid which contain rich amount of organic matter. Bacillus are rod shaped bacteria which consist of two genera namely aerobic bacilli an aerobic bacilli. Bacillus organism produce a wide range products like antibiotic, enzymes and insecticides. The soil is collected from the mountain region of south India primary and secondary screening were done. The resulted organism were subjected to fermentation by LG medium. Abstract: In this investigation, single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) were non-covalently attached to phospholipidpoly(ethyleneglycol) amine PL-(PEG)-5000-NH2, to construct efficient carriers for gene delivery. PL- (PEG) amine of 5000 daltons were conjugated to SWCNT to develop vectors possessing effective DNA condensation ability which can interact with cell membrane via both nano-needle mechanism and electrostatic interactions produced by SWCNT and PL- (PEG)amine 5000, respectively. The outcomes demonstrated that SWCNT-PL-PEG-Amine-5000 could pack plasmid DNA p EGFP-C1 to enhance the gene transfer. The efficient vector, which was prepared by attachment of SWCNT-PL-PEGNH2, showed 8.5–10 folds enhancement in transfection activity. We also showed that the selected complex could expeditiously transfer plasmid EGFP-C1 in to prokaryotic and eukaryotic host cells

Abstract: Adhatoda vasica Nees. are used traditionally in Tripura to cure pneumonia, cough and cold. Pneumonia is mainly caused by bacteria like Klebsiella pneumoniae. Moreover, many of these pathogenic strains are showing acute resistance for many commercially available antibiotics due to its biofilm formation ability. The present study evaluates the antimicrobial activity of Adhatoda vasica Nees. extracts against the biofilms of Klebsiella pneumoniae and their free-living forms. After extraction and phytochemical screening of Adhatoda vasica Nees, the presence of vasicine in extracts was ascertained by thin layer chromatography. The antimicrobial activity for all the extracts and commercially available vasicine against planktonic forms of bacteria were determined using the agar well diffusion method with tetracycline as control. Abstract: An improved intergeneration cycle of nutrition can eliminate the curse of malnutrition. The study aims to find out the current nutritional condition and dietary practices of the urban school children. A cross sectional study was conducted among 302 school children aged between 4-14 years in four private primary school of DNCC. Anthropometric measurements and socioeconomic condition were taken to assess nutritional status of the children. In addition dietary diversity score (HDDS) was calculated using FAO guideline 2006. Among total 302 children aged between 4-14 years 52.3% were boys and 47.7% were girls. 81.1% children had normal WAZ, while 87.8% attain normal HAZ and 91.7% had normal WHZ. 18.5% & 52.6% children respectively were normal (CDC & WHO BMI-for-age standards). Abstract: Punica granatum Linn. is popularly known as pomegranate (Anar). It is a member of Punicaceae family, have been used in folk medicine for centuries in the Middle East, India, and China, and it has been used to treat ailments ranging from inflammation to the pain of a simple sore throat. Different part of Pomegranate like bark, leaves, immature fruits, and fruit rind have some medicinal significance. The pericarps of Punica granutam L. contains seven highly active inhibitors of carbonic anhydrase (CA) i.e., punicalin, punicalagin, granatin B, gallagyldilactone, punicalagin,pedunculagin and tellimagrandin.The four weakly active inhibitors, gallic acid, granatin A, corilagin and ellagic acid, are known to exhibitant microbial, antifungal, antimutagenic activity.
