Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Ramanan.M, balasubramanian.M, ilaiyaraja.S |
Abstract: In the present energy scenario the fossil fuel sources are fast depleting and their combustion products are causing global environmental problems. So it is inevitable to shift towards the use of other alternative energy resources such as renewable energy, Green energy, bio fuels which leads to reduction in pollution.Magnetic Engine is an alternative technology which uses magnetic fluxdensity to run the engine and thus eliminates the use of fossil fuels. Since the exhaust temperature is slightly less than atmospheric temperature it is used to reduce global warming, since there is no emission of co2 and hydrocarbon content there is no chance of global warming. Due to elimination of pollution, this new technology is easy to adapt. Another benefit is that no external energy such as electrical & electronic energy is required to run the engine. This paper is reports on the review of magnetic reciprocal engine for the design and development of single cylinder engine which can be run by magnetic force of repulsion. The magnetic engine vehicle will contribute to reducing air pollution and tend to zero pollution level and promoting great environment

Country | : | India |
Authors | : | E.Sivaselvam, S. Gajendran |
Abstract: In the present scenario, the world is highly competitive. Many industries compete in this competitive world by giving their best productivity. Productivity can be improved in many ways. In this paper the details of application of overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) to a plastic industry are presented. Using overall equipment effectiveness calculations one can determine the present situation in the production system, effectiveness of the maintenance system, conditions of the machines, worker's skill and utilization of the machines. Five bottleneck machines which affect productivity have been identified and studied and the results are presented.

Title | : | Moisture Content of Rice Husk Particulated Natural Fiber Polymer Composites |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | M.Doorvasan, S.Sathiyamurthy, S.Jayabal and K.Chidambaram |
Abstract: The composite materials are being developed to replace conventional materials, such as stiffness, high fracture toughness, and ease of fabrication, etc. In the present investigation, the mechanical behaviors of filler-added Coir- Vinyl ester composites were studied. The main objectives of this study is to investigate the water absorption behaviors of rice husk-filler added non woven randomly oriented Coir-Vinyl ester composites for varying fiber length, and filler content. It was inferred that a particulate weight content of 10% and fiber length of 50 mm has restricted the water absorption in a better way. It is observed that the value of moisture absorption increased with increased to particulate content. It is concluded that rice husk particulate filled coir fiber reinforced composite can be used in the low load bearing marine applications.

Title | : | Reduction of run out specification in tractor rear wheel through DMAIC approach |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Meeran Mohideen V, Kesavan |
Abstract: Reduction of run out specification in tractor rear wheel using DMAIC methodology, It encompasses various phases namely Define, measure, analyze, improve and control. Scope of project is to reduce the lateral run out specification from 5mm to 3mm in tractor rear wheel 12"x28" size. The scope confined to run out reduction in front side of the tractor rear wheel as the rear side already within 3mm specification. The run out specification is becoming more stringent in order to reduce the internal rework and thereby improving the productivity and customer satisfaction. Statistical tool like frequency plot, process capability and sigma level applied to justify the project scope during base line data collection on run out. In order to make sure that the run out pattern is uniform, data collected in various part sizes. Those data clearly indicated two facts that the rear side wobble in the wheel not exceeding 3mm

Title | : | Study Of Microstructure And Mechanical Properties Of Cast And Forged Al-4.4cu Alloy |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | R.Karthikeyan, K.Manisekar, Venkata Subramanian |
Abstract: The aim of this paper is to evaluate the effect of hot forging process on the microstructure and tensile properties of as-cast Al–4.4Cu alloy. The secondary process of hot forging was carried out on the alloy samples at a temperature of 4500C and the load applied is 400 KN . The test results indicates that the mechanical properties was enhanced by the results of hot forging .The improvements in microhardness values are obtained due to the grain refinement and new fine grains induced by forging in Al-4.4Cu alloy.

Title | : | The Influence of Multi Pass Friction Stir Welding On the Micro Structural and Mechanical Properties of Dissimilar Aluminum Alloys |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | M.Bharathi, P.Ganesh |
Abstract: This paper investigates the influence of multi pass friction stir welding on the micro structural and mechanical properties of AA6082 and AA5083. Friction stir welding has already replaced conventional welding process in a variety of industrial applications especially in aluminum alloys. Friction stir welding is performed to join aluminum alloy 6xxx series with 5xxx. The concept of material flows during friction stir welding is yet not fully understood. Dissimilar metals like AA6082 and AA5083 alloys have been welded using this method. A wide range of pin profile and working conditions were used during this study. In particular, the effects of material's position and different pin profiles were studied on the parameters like material flow, tensile property, micro hardness and micro structure. It is observed from the microstructure that the material mixing is very effective when AA5083 alloy was placed in the advancing side. Three distinct zones with different extends of materials were identified and the formation mechanism of the three zones has been discussed.
