Abstract:This paper aims at the reduction of casting defects of a plate cylinder which is used in an offset printing machine to transfer ink from the inking unit. Four variables are considered which directly affect the casting of the cylinder. Taguchi method was selected for the optimization of these selected four parameters. Taguchi method is based on performing evaluation or experiments to test the sensitivity of a set of response variables to a set of control parameters (or independent variables) by considering experiments in "orthogonal array" with an aim to attain the optimum setting of the control parameters. Four control parameters were used to reduce the defects that occur on the plate cylinder.Moisture Content, green strength, sand particle size and mould hardness were selected as the control parameters. The analysis showed a reduction in the number of defects when optimum input factor values were selected. Keywords: Green strength, mould, orthogonal, taguchi

Abstract:This paper presents a design method and a vibration analysis of a carbon/epoxy composite drive shaft. The design of the composite drive shaft is divided into two Gears are one of the most critical components of mechanical systems, automobiles and rotating machineries. They vary from tiny size used in watches to very large size used in marine speed reducers, bridge lifting mechanism and railroad turn table drivers. Because of their high degree of reliability, efficiency and compactness gears are widely used as the power transmitting components in most of the mechanical system. Abstract:Fiber reinforced composite material was prepared by reinforcing nanoclay modified isophthalic polyester resin with glass fiber mat. Polyester resin was modified with nanoclay cloisite15A. The Dynamical Mechanical behaviorwas studied for pure polyester modified with 0.5%, 1%, 1.5% and 2% nanoclay and reinforced with 5 layers of glass fiber mat. Abstract: Light weight materials coupled to the need for cost-effective processing have combined to create a significant opportunity for aluminium powder metallurgy as its increasing interest. Aluminium alloy (AA 2219) metal matrix composite reinforced with multi walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) produced by powder metallurgy (P/M) technique was analysed and CNTs dispersion were traced. The micro hardness and the electrical resistivity of the composites were measured from room temperature. The reasons for decrease in electrical resistivity at room temperature with increasing volume fraction of the carbon nanotubes were investigated These composites are being projected for use in structural applications for their high specific strength as well as functional materials
