Title | : | A Study on Optimized Design of a Spur Gear Reduction Unit |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Faisal.S. Hussain1, Syed Mohiuddin2, Sajid Siddiqui3, R.N. Dehankar |
Abstract: The field of gear design is an extremely broad and complex area, and a complete coverage in any research work is not possible. In this work only parallel axis spur gear reduction unit which is the type, probably encountered most often in general practice, has been considered. A review of relevant literature in the areas of optimized design of spur gear indicates that compact design of spur gears involves a complicated algebraic analysis. A series of iterations is normally required to arrive at a practical combination of pinion teeth and module from their theoretical values. The present work describes the development of such a design methodology and diagnostic tool for determining the modes of failure for spur gear and also the causes of these failures have been studied.

Authors | : | Khushboo Chouhan1, Yogesh Ladhe2, Vipul Upadhayay |
Abstract: Renewable energy sources demands are increasing day by day. To stop the harmful effect of global warming there is a need to adopt the changes .Most common form of the renewable energy is the biomass. Biomass is the term for the living material-plants, animals, fungi, bacteria. Taken together the earth's biomass represents an enomorous store of energy. The handling out facility of the solid biomass may also generate heat and the electricity. It has been estimated that just one-eighth of the total biomass produced annually would provide all humanity current demand for energy .To avoid the replenishment of the fossils fuels the much attention is being paid on identifying suitable biomass species, which can provide higher output energy.

Title | : | Thermo-Mechanical and Vibration Analysis of the I.C. Engine Piston made of SiC reinforced ZrB2 composite using Finite Element Method (ANSYS) |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Ashwani Kumar1, Shaik Imran Behmad2, Pravin P Patil |
Abstract:The main objective of this research work is to investigate and analyse the stress distribution of piston at actual engine condition. The parameter used for the simulation is operating gas pressure and material properties of piston. To evaluate the material properties of piston the maximum principal stress, minimum principal stress and von mises stresses were calculated. These stresses were calculated for three different materials by comparing we found out that SiC reinforced ZrB2 composite material provides less stress concentration and more stability at higher temperature. For stability checking at higher temperature thermal analysis were carried out. This research work suggests a new type of SiC reinforced ZrB2 composite material that can sustain at higher temperature (1680 K) and pressure (18 MPa). The structure of piston was modeled by using SOLIDEDGE software. Finite element modeling and analysis were performed using ANSYS 14. The natural frequency and Vibration mode of the piston were obtained and its vibration characteristics are analysed. The free vibration analysis show that the natural frequency of vibration varies from 1.28e-5 Hz to 274.44 Hz.

Title | : | Demonstration of Thermo Acoustic Refrigeration by Setting up an Experimental Model |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Mathewlal T1, GauravSingh2 , Chetan Devadiga3, Nehal Mendhe |
Abstract: Conventional refrigeration techniques have high energy costs and continue to generate greenhouse gasses. One possible alternative could be thermo-acoustic refrigeration technology which is nascent, environment friendly and has benefit of no moving part. Thermo-acoustic is a combined branch of acoustics and thermodynamics which studies the transfer of heat by sound waves. The Thermo-acoustic refrigerator(TAR) uses sound energy to achieve refrigeration. A prototype was designed, fabricated and tested for exploration of this field and to demonstrate thermo-acoustic effect. For the design, standing wave and a quarter wavelength resonator with air as working fluid at ambient condition was used.Possible modification in design has been discussed to improve efficiency of TAR model.

Title | : | Implementation of Total Productive Maintenance on Boiler |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Amit Borikar1, Ankit P. Shingare1, Jay R. Sarnaik1, Avinash G. Bhusari |
Abstract: The unit cost of thermal energy depends on the capital investment, operations and maintenance (O&M) costs, Availability, Performance and Quality. The capital costs are substantial but are incurred only at the inception of the power plant and can be optimized at the inception stage. The O&M costs are incurred throughout the life of the plant and determine the economic operation of the power plant. The greatest part of O&M costs goes to maintenance cost. To make thermal power plants (TPPs) economical, the maintenance functions should be optimized by carefully selecting and planning the maintenance strategies that will address the maintenance needs of the plant at the least cost. The objective of the study was to propose a methodology that can be used to compare the management methods and determine a method that can optimize maintenance of TPPs to make the plants operate economically by using TPM.

Title | : | Design and Optimization of Sheet Metal Enclosure with the Help of Behaviour Modelling |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Niteen T. Kakade1, Pro.D.G.Gangwani |
Abstract: It is going to be taking this sensor housing which consists of four sheet metal parts and going to take this little assembly and set it up and go through and run through the analysis and while doing that it going to be pointing out some of the changes that have taken place . So the first of these point out before it even go into analysis and that it taken all the options that used to be in the old analysis file and it is incorporated those into the Pro/Engineer preferences editor. So what this lets it do is go ahead and search for all those difficulties. For instance let's say that it used to know that it used to be able to specify where temporary directories were written during an analysis. So it is going to go ahead and say that it wants to search simulation with the help of software.

Title | : | Unique Solar Operated Spray Jet |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Mr. Zoeb khan |
Abstract: Science is basically "passive" observation of the universe, as it exists to generate knowledge. Engineering is making use of that knowledge to meet human needs by creating machine, systems, process and technologies that have not previously existed. Design and manufacturing are the synthetic part of engineering practice. Manufacturer has received a lot of attention recently for very good economic reasons. In Indian farms generally two types of spray pumps are used for spraying; hand operated spray pump and fuel operated spray pump. Of which hand operated spray pump is most popular. The main drawback of hand operated spray pump is that the user can't use it for more than 5-6 hours continuously as he gets tired after some hours where as fuel operated spray pump requires fuel which is expensive and availability of fuel is not easy at rural places. At the same time it exhausts carbon dioxide as pollutant which is harmful to our environment. In such situation we should think to move towards some non-conventional energy.

Title | : | Design of Govern Arm Suspension System |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | A.Shyam1, R.Pachaiyappan2, Sa.Paveethrun3, M.Srinath |
Abstract: As the name governor precise, GOVERN ARM SUSPENSION did not have governor which is used to maintain the speed of an engine within specified limits, whenever there is a variation in loads. In order to enhance the cushioning effect as compared to the normal mono cross rear suspension system, GOVERNARM SUSPENSION was designed by the multi body dynamics software called ADAMS. In motorcycles like HONDA, KAWASAKI, DUCATI, KTM etc., which have mono cross rear suspension that give comfort, look stylish but lags in load bearing capacity and cushioning effect as compared to swing arm suspension system.

Title | : | An Ergonomics Intervention in a Transformer Manufacturing Industry to Improve the Productivity |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Sandip B. Wanave1, Manish K. Bhadke |
Abstract: This Paper is about the evaluation of the workstation to improve the productivity by reducing the back pain, shoulder injury, fatigue etc. Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) continue to be a tremendous burden in industry with back injury and shoulder disorders being among the most common and costly disorders because of not having proper workstation. In industrialized countries, upper limb work-related musculoskeletal disorders (UL-WMSDs) are the most common form of occupational diseases. They are generating a growing population of workers with reduced working capacity. The link between these Pathologies and different aspects of work organization has been convincingly proven. Productivity is an important indicator of economic growth and social health. High performance and productivity require the right sitting posture. So for considering this factor operator needs proper seating arrangement such that their problems regarding the MSDs can be reduced & productivity will be increased. It is revealed that the suggested workstation improves working posture and results in reduced postural stress on operators' bodies and, consequently, reduce prevalence of MSDs symptoms.

Authors | : | Manikandan.S1, Biju B Thomas2, M.Puviyarasan |
Abstract: Rapid Prototyping(RP) is a simple manufacturing process where a 3D physical model is fabricated directly from a Computer-Aided Design (CAD), in which the ideas of designers and engineers take a three dimensional form. In the current trend where cost-saving strategy becomes a key to stay competitive, RP aims at reducing the development and the time involved. Some of the current issues related to RP technology are the less desirable properties of the moulding materials, high prices of the equipments and product development tool, and the single moulding process techniques.

Title | : | Numerical Analysis of Effect of Process Parameters on Residual Stress in a Double Side TIG Welded Low Carbon Steel Plate |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Vishnu V.S1, Nadeera M2, Joy Varghese V.M |
Abstract: A 3D thermo-mechanical simulation model was developed to predict distribution of temperature and residual stresses during Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) double-side arc welding (DSAW) process on a low carbon steel plate. An uncoupled thermal–mechanical finite element analysis is performed using ANSYS. In this study the effects of welding process parameters (welding speed and welding current) in the symmetrical and asymmetrical double-side TIG welding process were investigated. The simulated results show that the residual stresses are tensile at the weld pool region and as the distance from the weld line increase it tends to compressive. Also found that welding process parameters in welded structures are the most influential parameter for the occurrence and control of residual stresses.
